Face fit
Face fit blinds are easy...
Step 1: Unpack your blinds and lay each blind in front of the corresponding window (All blinds are labelled with the locations that you entered).
Step 2: Cut and remove all wrapping (making sure not to cut your new blind!)
Set out brackets & chain locks at each end of your window in the correct locations.
Step 3: Hold brackets flush with the side & top of your architrave and mark 2 screw locations (3 screw locations for double brackets). 3 positions are available in case you have existing holes from other products etc. Good to aim for the centre of the holes just in case bracket movement is required.
Step 4: Drill holes with the 1.25mm drill bit.
Step 5: Return bracket to the correct position & drive 2 screws into the holes (3 screws for double brackets).
Step 6: Give the bracket a wiggle to ensure it is secure. If your architraves are loose you may need to drill a deeper hole to hit a stud & use longer screws to secure the bracket & architrave to the stud.
Step 7: Follow the same process to secure the second bracket & then slip on your bracket covers if provided.
Step 8: Easier with 2 people. Once your brackets are secure its time to fit your new blind. Insert the chain drive end of your blind into its bracket first, making sure that the plastic chain cover is located to the top of the bracket (if it is not in this location, the chain will rub on the cover when operating). Once inserted, clip the idler end into its bracket. If the blind won't fit, don't force it! Take the blind out and shift one of your brackets to give yourself more room. If the blind clips in but can still be moved from side to side, rotate the idler mechanism (clear cog wheel) to extend the inner pin (the inner pin will extend in 1mm increments to 10mm and then retract). Try to keep approx 1mm side to side play to allow the blinds to be removed easily.
Step 9: Lower & raise your blind a few times, making sure that the fabric is not tracking to the left or right. If it is, something is out of square. To fix the issue, lower the blind as far as it will go and expose the tubing. Place 1 x 4cm piece of masking tape on the tube on the OPPOSITE end to the way the blind is tracking. Raise & lower to check. If it is still tracking repeat the process and add another piece of masking tape over the first to thicken it. Check again & repeat if necessary. If your blind is still tracking and your base rail is starting to look off line you will need to shift the bracket on the end in which the blind is tracking, DOWNWARDS. (A spirit level will be helpful here in working out how far to go) It is rare to ever need to shift a bracket down more than 5mm unless your house is falling over!
Step 10: Once your blind is tracking straight, clip the chain lock onto the chain and using the .5mm drill bit pre-drill your hole & drive the screw provided making sure not to over tighten. You can choose one of two locations (face or side of architrave) Make sure your chain lock has been fitted correctly by following the guidelines that are attached to your chain & at the bottom of this page.
Step 11: Stand back and admire your work. If you have finished installing all of your blinds, have a drink in hand while you admire your work....the best part!
Recess fit blinds
As per face fit instructions except for the following...
1: Location of brackets. As a guide line the outside of the bracket with the outside of the reveal. Depending on obstacles that you have taken into account when you measured, this position may need to vary.
2: Once your blind is installed you should need to wind the idler pin out to make your blind fit (remember you have 10 x 1mm increments. Allow movement of 1-2mm if available to make removing your blinds easy.
Removal of blinds if necessary
1: Wind the idler pin to retract & remove your blind. Remember to remove the child lock first! If you find it hard to grab the idler winder (especially in a recess) you may need to lower your blind to reduce the thickness of the fabric on the roll. Once removed, manually wind your blind back up.
FRS Pelmets
1: Follow face fit instructions but add the following...
Step 1: Lay out your pelmet faces and ends in the correct locations (pelmets will be numbered in the same order your blinds were written on your order form eg. if lounge 1 was first on your order form, then the FRS pelmet marked 1 will be for Lounge 1 and so on) If all else fails, run a tape over the pelmet and it will be the width of the window less 6mm.
Step 2: Clip your brackets into the FRS ends (the curve on the FRS should be at the top) Install brackets & covers together as one, level with the outside & top of your architrave as per above face fit instructions.
Step 3: Evenly space out the support brackets and install the mid support brackets so that the round support end is just above to top of your architrave.
Step 4: Clip your blind into place following the face fit instructions. IMPORTANT: If there is any play in your blind, move your brackets in (do not wind idler pin out or FRS Face will not fit correctly). If you blind is too tight, move your brackets out.
Step 5: Clip your FRS face into position (easier with 2 people). Hold the face with the curve to the top. At one end sit the face curve onto the end cover curve & hold in position. Rest the face onto the centre supports and then sit the opposite end curve onto the opposite bracket curve. You may need to slightly bend the end cover out to make this easier. Once all in position, tap the base of the face into the end cover to clip into place. Repeat the process at the other end.
* If there is a gap between the end cover and the face this mean that your brackets are too far apart. Remove the face with a Flat screw driver, remove the blind and shift a bracket (much easier to make sure your blind is a good fit within the bracket ends first, before you clip on the face!)
Step 6: Make sure your blind is running correctly and not tracking. If it is, follow the face fit instructions to correct. Make sure your chain operates over the end cover guide to prevent damage to your blind.
Step 7: Secure the child safety lock and follow the safety instructions.
Bonded Pelmets
1: Follow face fit instructions to install your blind brackets
2: Lay out your pelmets which will be marked with their location (as per FRS Instructions) or length. Worst case run a tape measure over your pelmet & it should be approx 8cm longer than the width of your window.
3: Evenly lay out the pelmet bracket provided and install them so they sit 25mm above your architrave by pre-drilling and driving as per face fit instructions.
4: Install your pelmet before you install your blind! (Easier with 2 people) Sit your pelmet over the brackets and make sure it is flush with the wall top & sides. While one person holds the pelmet into position, drive 2 of the provided screw into each bracket (do not over tighten screws). Make sure your pelmet is secure.
5: Follow removal of blind instructions and retract your blinds idler pin. Follow face fit instructions to install blind, but once idler end is in position, wind the idler pin out and you should hear the pin click into the bracket. Give the blind a wiggle to make sure it has, and that the blind is secure.
6: Follow face fit instructions to complete your installation.
7: Secure the child safety lock and follow the safety instructions.
CHILD SAFETY ALWAYS COMES FIRST
